| What's better than an impromptu vacation to New Orleans? An impromptu vacation in which old friends -- and some new ones -- agree to converge on the French Quarter for Easter weekend. I met up with David Kligman from San Francisco and Susan Edmondson from Colorado Springs (the hearty trio that trekked through Spain a few years ago). David, in turn, met an old college buddy, John Borland, who drove down from Atlanta; and connected with Ann Catrina, who lives in Oakland but was in Atlanta on business and decided to fly down to New Orleans for the weekend. Meanwhile, Susan arrived with friend Connie Steele, and they in turn met Connie's sister, Janet, from Springfield, Mo. Plus -- Susan's friends Barb Reichert and Malia, of Michigan, also made the trek. Finally, we were lucky enough to meet another set of David's college friends -- David and Marsha Johnson -- who live in the city and played magnificent hosts.
